Gabriella Possum Nungarrayi ist die älteste Tochter von dem verstorbenen Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri, der wohl bekannteste Künstler der Aboriginal Art Welt. Gabriella wurde 1967 in Mt. Allan, im Bundesstaat Northern Territory in Australien geboren. Sie besuchte später das Yirara College in Alice Springs. Ihren erste Auszeichnung als Künstlerin erhielt sie noch während Ihrer Schulzeit in Alice Springs.
Der Einfluss Ihres Vaters in ihren Gemälden ist natürlich unübersehbar. Er war seit Kindesbeinen ihr Mentor und so fanden Gabriella’s Arbeiten schnell Aufmerksamkeit. Mit der Darstellung ihrer „Milky Way Dreamings“ ist Gabriella weltbekannt. Ihre Gemälde erzählen aber auch von bush Tucker, damper seed, goanna und serpent.

Gabriella lebt heute mit ihrem Ehemann und ihren fünf Kindern in Melbourne.
