Linda Syddick Napaltjarri

Linda wurde 1937 am Lake Mackey, der in dem Gibson Desert in West-Australien liegt, geboren.Ihre Mutter, Wanala Nangala gehört zur Pintubi Sprachgruppe und ihr Vater, Rintje Tjungurrayi zur Pirjantjatjara Sprachgruppe. Ihr Vater verstarb, als Linda noch klein war. Ihr Stiefvater wurde Shorty Langkata Tjungurrayi.

Die Familie verließ mit Linda ca. 1948 ihr traditionelles Land in der Wüste und zog nach Haasts Bluff. Sie wurde nach christlichem Glauben in der lutherischen Mission erzogen. Kurz vor dem Tod nahm ihr Stiefvater Shorty Linda das Versprechen ab, weiter zu malen, um so die Geschichten väterlicherseits weiterleben zu lassen. Sie wurde durch ihre Onkel Nosepeg Tjupurrula und Uta Uta Tjangala angeleitet und unterwiesen und ihr Malstil sollte bis 1989 sehr traditionell bleiben. Ende der Achtziger Jahre entwickelte sie ihren eigenen Stil. Eine ihrer neuen Arbeiten wurde 1989 für die Blake Prize Exhibition angenommen.
